✨ Who am I ?
Good evening! I’m Jilzup, a passionate creator… but passionate about what? Way too many things. Social media posts, manga writing, VRChat worlds made in Unity, logos, youtube creation, etc…
Below, you’ll find a little biography covering my entire life on the internet, along with all the projects I’ve taken part in or created. (Well, not all of them some projects and things I’ve been involved in are better left in the past :D)
🔧 The Minecraft Episode : Oxyrion (2020–2022)
In early 2020, while browsing a Discord server, I came across a post from Zeprof2Fail, a guy who was looking for help configuring plugins for his Minecraft server.
Having already experimented with that kind of stuff on some of my previous server projects, I offered to help… and just like that, I found myself involved in Oxyrion, an ambitious PvP Factions server project.
Over the next 2 years, we went through all kinds of ups and downs: lack of resources, a young team with no budget, and a pretty chaotic start.
But we kept going.
And after months of work, around mid-2020, we finally launched the server! And to our surprise, we had around 40 players at launch, including a few small streamers!
But just 5 minutes after opening, we got hit by a massive DDoS attack, forcing us to shut everything down and relaunch a week later.
Despite that, the server managed to keep going for about a month, with around 20 active players every evening.
Except we made one big, BIG mistake: we started becoming friends with some of our most dedicated players, and innocently enough, we invited them to join the staff as helpers, giving them access to various commands… But that completely killed their motivation to actually play and grind.
The result was a rapid decline in the server’s player base. Our most dedicated players weren’t playing anymore, so everyone else started thinking: why join an empty server?
Zeprof eventually decided to shut the server down “temporarily” so we could rework everything…
But in the end, “temporarily” eventually became “permanently.”
Life simply started taking over. We had less and less time to work on the project, and Zeprof preferred to focus on his future in sailing and mountaineering. So, in 2022, we officially laid Oxyrion to rest for good.
Here’s the trailer I made myself.

🥽 Discovering VR & VRChat
Around early 2021, while hanging out at some friends’ place, I discovered virtual reality through Superhot VR and Blade & Sorcery. A whole new way of gaming opened up to me. No longer being limited to a 2D screen and instead being 100% immersed in a virtual world was IN-SANE.
Soon after, I discovered VRChat, and on May 8, 2021, I created my account and dove straight into this new universe without even owning a VR headset yet.
And just one week later, on May 15, I was recruited as an event host for the largest French-speaking VRChat community at the time: FrenchVR. (That’s what I call not wasting any time xD)
Then, in June 2021, I finally got my very first VR headset: an Oculus Rift. And that’s when everything changed. Basically, I was having the time of my life.
🏗️ The Beginning of My VRChat World Creation Journey
Very quickly, I became fascinated by world creation.
In June 2021, I started learning how to make my own worlds.
Then, in July, I published my very first map: La French Villa. A complete disaster TwT… Way too big, poorly optimized… but hey, you have to start somewhere.

Then came August 2021, with a much more successful map: Sunset House. Even though the first version somehow managed to crash every Quest user who joined (oops), it quickly started gaining popularity, with quite a few English-speaking players regularly visiting it. Today, it’s still my most visited map, with over 39,000 visits 😀

🌅 Me FOunder : The SunsetVR
Around September, I decided to start my own community.
At first, it was called Sunset Community, but I quickly renamed it SunsetVR because, well, it sounded way cooler. (Also because “Sunset Community” happened to be the name of a vacation resort in the US.)
After some tensions with the FrenchVR team, followed by one final incident that was the last straw, I left everything behind to fully focus on SunsetVR.
The community started gaining some traction, and in May 2022, I released a new map made specifically for it. People seemed to really like it, with some even saying it was way better-looking than the FrenchVR map.
But the hype quickly died down… and with my final high school exams coming up, I decided to put both the community and the map on hold.
🛠️ The crazy world project…
In early 2023, I made an important decision: finally upgrading my PC.
My old setup dated back to 2020 and was seriously starting to hold me back:
➤ Not powerful enough for VR,
➤ Too slow for rendering,
➤ A pain to work with comfortably in Unity, especially when dealing with lighting effects or complex scenes.
And let’s be honest: if I upgraded my setup, it was mainly so I could work on this particular map without being held back by technical limitations. I wanted to give myself the tools to create a world that could truly live up to my vision.
Originally, I was going for a design heavily inspired by the first SunsetVR map: the same atmosphere and a similar overall layout.
But as development progressed, I changed direction several times.
Because here’s something you should know about VRChat world creation: the most time-consuming part isn’t the modeling.
The real challenge is the design.
Finding the right layout, anticipating how players will behave, optimizing movement throughout the world, social areas, and interactions.
Creating a map isn’t just about placing 3D objects: you have to think like an architect, a game designer, an artist, and a technician all at once.
For an entire year, I worked on it relentlessly. The map impressed people, and the feedback was incredible.
But with my studies, deadlines, and my passion for the project slowly fading…
I eventually stopped working on the project for good. And the community along with it.

📹 Back to YouTube
On a whim, in November 2023, I decided to revive my YouTube channel.
I started a format that, at the time, pretty much no one else had really tried:
➡️ A podcast about virtual reality.
My goal? To take a deep dive into VR topics that were still rarely discussed on French-speaking YouTube, combining analysis, accessible explanations, and my own perspective.
I released three episodes:
-
🎙️ A video about Palmer Luckey, the pioneer of modern VR around 400 views
-
🧠 Another one about the failure of the metaverse, taking a more critical approach nearly 800 views, my best-performing video 😀
-
🎬 And an episode about VR and cinema, which was a bit more conceptual around 100 views
Despite classes and not having much free time, I still managed to get them out, although it definitely wasn’t easy. (And I was releasing about one video per month.)
But after a conversation with a friend, I realized something pretty fundamental:
“The thing is, you love VR, but you don’t actually enjoy making YouTube videos that much.”
And he was right….
So I eventually decided to put the podcast project aside.
🔥 The Birth of Mad Sunset
That’s when, around mid-2024, an old friend got back in touch with me.
He invited me to his private server, as he had also shut down his own large community from back in the day, Furnia. While we were talking, he discovered the incredible map I had made for SunsetVR back then… and suggested bringing it back.
At first, I said no.
But then he told me about his new project: MadnessBox, a nightclub map packed with insane customizable lighting effects.
We started talking, and an idea came to life:
What if we merged our projects?
➡️ Mad Sunset was born, combining both of our visions.
And actually, the name Mad Sunset itself is a combination of our two previous project names: MadnessBox + SunsetVR = MadSunset.
So, since August 2024, we’ve been working hard on it: Skundeste handles the map itself, while I take care of everything else: visual identity, recruitment, Discord, community building…
And of course, none of this happened without its fair share of drama: angry kids making ridiculous doxxing threats, tensions within the staff… but nothing that could stop a real vision.

🌀 Indecision and Total Uncertainty
I don’t know if you’ve noticed by now, but I’m clearly one of the most indecisive guys you’ll ever meet 😅
And throughout 2024 and early 2025, I still had no idea where I was going.
My future felt unclear. I didn’t really have any clear direction. I was stuck in a seriously thick fog.
During that time, I still tried launching several projects — ideas that were more or less ambitious, but I ended up abandoning every single one of them.
Why? Simply because the motivation just wasn’t there, and more importantly, neither was the desire to keep going.
I was trying to find something to do, but nothing really clicked with me.
💭 And today ?
Today, I’m at a crossroads.
I’ve finished my studies in communication and digital marketing.
What I want is to create, experiment, explore, and innovate.
But i have few option, streaming, making a manga, starting my business, i don’t know, i just overthink and only think.
vroom vroom
Flou totale.
🔧 And tomorrow ?
I’m moving forward. Just a guy still figuring himself out.
I don’t know exactly where it’ll take me, but I keep moving forward, searching, trying things, and experimenting.
To be continued… 😎
